Masters Rugby League National Festival

September the band are asked to perform at a local event organised by Blackpool Masters and Blackpool Belles. The event is an annual event where Masters Rugby League teams from around the country gather to compete in a competition. Each year the numbers grow resulting this year with over 700 people representing 49 teams competed in the event.

The event is organised and ran by Husband and Wife team Paul and Angela Ogden. This year’s event was every bit as fantastic as previous years with Oggie making a return to playing after receiving the go ahead from doctors. 2024 was a record year in terms of numbers and there was a team taking part that travelled from and represented Australia.

This year marked the 8th consecutive year for the Jack Burr Band. It is an event we look forward to every year. This year there were a few changes to the running order. JBB would be joined by a local solo artist and country singer Scott Slattery. Scott performed a solo section highlighting his own rendition of The Gambler made famous by Kenny Rogers. In the second half of the show Scott would join the band in a collaboration which was enjoyed by everyone none more so than lead singer Chris.

It only remains for us to say a huge thank you to Paul and Angela, The Blackpool Masters Committee and each and every one of the 700 participants and their friends and family. We look forward to seeing you again next year.
